London, UK, 13 August 2007 – MedWire News has won a Summer 2007 World-Wide-Web (WWW) Health Award. Judged by a panel of international experts the bronze award was presented to MedWire in the “Websites for Health Professionals” class and was the only award winner in the Media/Publishing category. In winning an award, MedWire, Current Medicine Group’s online medical news service, has been given a “seal of quality” for its electronic health information.
“We are thrilled to receive this award,” said Lucy Piper, the Bureau Chief of MedWire. “And it feels like a double victory for us because the Baylor College of Medicine website, Lipids Online, also won an award in the Education category, and they license our lipidology and cardiology news feeds.”
The WWW Health Awards are organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC) and recognize the best web-based health-related content for consumers and professionals. Entries were judged on accuracy, success in reaching the targeted audience and overall quality.
